Milestone numero uno ! ✅

After this first milestone, it’s time to take stock of the situation: we are re-thinking the general shape of the object. Following the feedback of parents and specialists, we decided to make a watch (see our cheerful post of last week 😬). But we need to take other aspects into consideration, mainly on the technical side. The engineers (Lucie & Anthony), made a lot of research to find the best components and battery that could fit the ideal size, which is around 4x4cm. It was not an easy task, since the battery still needs to be pretty big… That’s why we are rethinking our previous choice, maybe aiming at another kind of object that could be bigger. Manon, our product designer, is currently working on alternative solutions that could fit our two main criterions: a discreet and portable object.

While preparing the milestone and between two interviews with parents, we had the amazing opportunity to present our project to a dozen of specialists at the cantonal center for autism, at CHUV. We are very grateful and are thanking again Mrs Marine Jequier Gygax, who made this meeting possible. It was an impressive step for us and for our project, this meeting allowed us to confirm the relevance and the utility of our object, helping people within the ASD spectrum.

All the meetings we could have also taught us about the importance of customisation of the interface of the object. Hélève, our interaction designer, had a closer look at this concerns, creating a completely personnalisable interface: digital vs visual countdown, light vs vibrating transition signal, picture vs icon representing the tasks, how many tasks to display when pressing the button… The caregiver could modify everything via the settings in the app, in order to suit as many people as possible. The app is getting complex, it’s going to be a tough job for Khalil, our IT specialist ! 🙈

So let’s get to work ! 💪
