The Minor STAS/CHIC 2017-2018 is now officially underway. Participants of the new edition met on Friday evening at the EPFL-ECAL Lab (thanks to Cédric, Marius and Nicolas for hosting us). On the program, some of the new features we are introducing this year, including mentoring between current participants and the “newbies”, less emphasis on mobile applications (i.e., a broader understanding of connectivity), workshops placed at different moments – more later. The participants created a low-tech social network (see below).
Friday evening also gave the opportunity for the new participants to meet with the growing CHIC alumni community and share the perennial pizza and beers.
Saturday morning was devoted to working in interdisciplinary teams (communication, communication, communication…). We launched a new game – the Nabaztag challenge – in which students from different disciplines gathered to re-design the semi-defunct Nabaztag (see the results below).
Last but not least, we had the first round of mix & mash during which participants presented their initial problem/solution to each other. They’ll have a second at it on Sunday before the votes – check in on Sunday evening to discover the teams and the universe they will explore for one month.
