We survived Milestone 1

By Diane Marquette November 24, 2019 Discover Check-y project

Hi everyone!

The Resourceful team brings you the latest news.

It’s done! We survived milestone number one! Together, we presented our project to our supervisors and other members participating in the CHIC program. Even our mentor Nicolas came for the occasion!

During Thursday’s weekly meeting, we took into account the comments and questions about our project and our presentation to further refine our opportunity. We decided to focus on concussions in young athletes playing sports such as hockey. In a nutshell, we have found the following opportunity: “How might we monitor head impacts sustained by young hockey players in order to preserve their brain health?”

Moreover, we did two new interviews this week. One of them is an interview with a youth hockey coach who is also a retired professional hockey player, and our second guest was a kickboxer.

Question: Do you know the difference between a Knock-out and a Knock-down, in the kickboxing world? A knockout is the term used when a practitioner is knocked down by a blow but does not get up within 10 seconds. A Knock-down is when the participant receives a blow, falls, and gets up.

That’s all for today!
Stay tuned for more updates on our project.
