Odeji, the meeting assistant

Our object offers multiple interactions. They are first of all physical: it is by caressing Odeji that the meeting leader closes a point of the meeting and moves on to the next one. The movement of the human is accompanied by a light signal from the machine. The second type of interaction takes place in the application. The difficulties then increase tenfold, since it is necessary to ensure consistency between the two modes of interaction and the user’s daily life.

These concerns find little echo in our team. The engineers are busy already trying to make the product work. Once there, they are looking to optimize the solution by miniaturizing or reducing power consumption. Designers are concerned about the aesthetics and affordability of the object. Already more focused on the user’s experience, this work is done in close collaboration with the engineers because very practical considerations prevail. How do you get the electronics into the object? Won’t the object get too hot? Finally, the businessman looks for partners and makes cost calculations.

The problem defined, these are the resources on which we base our development process:

• Iteration: we proceed in stages and repetitions. For example, we decide to develop an object that is larger than desired, but which we miniaturize later.

• We rely on the heuristic evaluation grid. This grid would be prominently displayed in our workshop, if we had one.

• We rely at the software level on the material design proposed by Google.

• Last but not least: we test our developments with users.

Over the weekend, we decided what we’re going to do for the next few weeks. We are going to test our four prototypes during meetings and decide which feature is the most useful for the participants. After this step, each student is going to focus on his or her role in the group.

Hello everyone,

We decided to make 4 different prototypes designed to improve the quality of meetings.

The first prototype is simply several hourglasses that will be distributed to the participants of the meeting so that everyone is aware of their speaking time.

The second one is a connected box allowing the members to vote anonymously on decisions made during conferences. This tool takes into account everyone’s opinion and allows them to bring their voices to the surface and reach a consensus on any topics of discussions in a timely manner.

The third one is a web app that allows people to visualize what needs to be done and the time allocated for each action item.

The last prototype is an electronic talking stick that allows users to better manage everyone’s speaking time in order to listen more attentively to each other.

We are currently looking for contacts to test these prototypes.

Hello everyone!

During this week, we discussed about the different prototypes we are making for our assumption testing. We want them to be ready for next week in order to test them on professional meetings and to know if our ideas could improve the quality of meetings.

January started dynamically with internal reorganization and many people met. The reflexive activity has been triggered with the homework about 5 dimensions of the AID (All Inclusive Design) teamwork:

• User-driven and solution-driven approach
• communication roles in meetings
• meeting management
• project documentation

These time of self-reflection were concentrated on meeting management. On the outside, team members met many meeting participants of different business sectors. Furthermore, we interviewed specialist of organization developpement and collaborative processes.

Loaded with these informations, we are now heading to prototyping. Many ideas will get out of heads and will be tested with the user’s reallity into the form of many prototypes.

Hi everyone !

We gathered for our first meeting. We first talked over a cup of tea so we could get to know each other better. And then, we brainstormed for our theme which is social inclusion. We wrote all of what we had in minds about this subject and we  analyzed a bit what came out of it.  Next week, we will add some ideas that we did not think of during the previous meeting and we will keep the best ideas that came out of our meetings.
