Hi ,

Following the CHIC program, I was admitted to Draper University on a scholarship from the State of Senegal. I felt so comfortable when we were asked to come and pitched in front of the audience because of my experience at CHIC and the many feedback I received from the program. I invite you all to come and visit Silliocon Valley because there are many interesting things happening there. I share a moment of end of course on 10X thinking with Professor Yun from Stanford

Late is better than ever!!!!!.
During our internship in Hong Kong, we visited the Hong Kong design institute. A strong experience because we worked with different classmates on a specific project. I had the chance to work with Tabitha chan who is one of the institute’s students on the let’s go project which aims to improve traffic in Hong Kong. At the end of the day, we had the pleasure of presenting our prototype to the Swiss ambassador in Hong Kong who greatly appreciated our work.

L’occasion nous a été donnée de visiter les locaux de Seeed , une entreprise qui a fini de se faire un nom dans le domaine du prototypage Electronique et de l’ hardware IOT. Nous avons pu voir leur processus d’assemblage et les différentes machines qui la constitue. (Pick and plce , SMT Stencil, Reflow  , … ) . Nous avons également voir un aperçu des procédures et des bancs utilisés pour les tests fonctionnelles de leurs différents projets .

As we said in MS3, we exchanged with the managers of ENSA (Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Agriculture) and we were contacted by potential customers, who were attracted by our product and who have a few hectares that they would like to irrigate in an intelligent way. This allowed us to correct some assumptions related to the product to be designed, and to support others; leading to a change in concept. We therefore considered it relevant, in addition to data acquisition and decision support, to integrate automatic irrigation. Our connected object will now be able to decide and act (control of valves and pumps) after analyzing the data collected.  

We validated the choice of sensors and thus the signal conditioning.

Next step, implementation of actuator control, and PCB realization.

This week, we participated in the Transform Africa summit in Kigali where the heads of state of the African Union were present around the theme of digital technology in Africa.

One of the themes of the summit was technology in agriculture. And we had to share our Tolbi concept and many decision-makers encouraged us to start mass production. We are learning more and more with the CHIC milestones and we hope in the sehnzhen ecosystem to be able to achieve this goal

Dear CHIC Community,

During the Milestone 3, we defined the architecture of hydraulic diagram with data collected during the interviews. A presentation have been made by one of our collaborators who is  an agronomist to allow  project members  to better understand the system so that they can make proposals of  technical appropriate solutions .

The meeting with our early adopters was very interesting and rich in terms of informations. Many of our hypotheses weren’t totally exact ; that’s why  we let them explain themselves clearly and expose their problematic situations. At the end of the meeting, they formulated modal proposals of solutions which will probably help us in our project and consequently, them in there activities. It was rich in terms of experience mainly for techies.

After interviews, we’ ve updated the  Business Model and the VDP.

We’ve done a lot of meetings, brainstorming sessions and workshops to prepare interviews with our early adopters like agronomists and hydrological experts of École Nationale Supérieure d’Agriculture (ENSA, Thiès, Sénégal)  which is a senegalese school which forms engineers in the agriculture’s field. The objective was principally to evaluate hypotheses about the customers’ needs we’ve formulated after interviews. The members in charge of the technical aspects of the project had really appreciated the session because it permitted them to better understand and to pay more attention to the customers’ needs and to know that it isn’t always important to implement the last version of framework or software card to solve their problems.

After interviews, we’ ve updated the  Business Model and the VDP.

Nous sommes issus de l’École Supérieure Polytechnique de Dakar (ESP), une école polytechnique de la capitale sénégalaise. Nous avons récemment rejoint ce programme et nous sommes très heureux de faire partie de l’édition 2018/2019 du programme CHIC. Les responsables de CHIC nous ont parlé de vous et de vos projets et nous sommes très heureux de partager, d’échanger et d’apprendre avec vous tous cette année.

Notre équipe est composée de 3 étudiants ingénieurs, de 2 designers et de 2 responsables étudiants.

• Mouhamadou Lamine Kébé du département informatique de l’ESP est en charge du développement logiciel et système du projet
• Papa Thiendella Ndiaye, responsable des étudiants au département de gestion de l’ESP, il est responsable de l’aspect commercial du projet.
• Alioune Woula Ndiaye, étudiant en génie au département de génie électrique de l’ESP, il est responsable de l’aspect intégré de notre projet.
• Saliou Diouf, étudiant en ingénierie au département de génie mécanique de l’ESP, il est responsable de la conception du produit.
• Moustapha Kébé, étudiant en ingénierie au département d’informatique, il est notre concepteur de sites Web et est également responsable de la conception du projet (communication).
• Moussa Diop, le plus jeune membre de l’équipe, est responsable des étudiants au sein du département de gestion de l’ESP. Il est en charge des relations clients et de l’organisation de l’équipe.

L’espace d’opportunités que nous voulons explorer est la gestion de ressources telles que l’eau en agriculture. Nous avons entre autres 2 motivations:

Avec les changements climatiques, l’eau devient de plus en plus rare

• Nous devons produire environ 70% plus d’aliments pour plus de 70% de la population d’ici 2050
• Sur cette base, nous pensons qu’il sera très important d’optimiser les ressources telles que l’eau pour augmenter les rendements agricoles.
